Meet The Heresy Design Team
Dean Sylvester has been in the firearms industry for over 18 years, founded Primary Weapons Systems® and has designed products for PWS®, Brownell’s®, GemTech®, BPI® and others. Dean manages all Product Design and Engineering for Heresy Design®.
Derek Hand started working in the firearms industry in 2010 with a focus on LE and Government sales. In 2019, Derek moved to Steyr Arms® holding multiple positions within the US division including COO. Derek manages all Business Development and Sales for Heresy Design®.
Brittany Sylvester started working in the firearms industry in 2015, overseeing Marketing, Sales, Shipping, and Warranty for PWS. she works with companies on packaging design, Website Builds and more through her Company, Parallax Consulting. Brittany manages all Marketing and Business Administration for Heresy Design®.
Heresy Design Values
Heresy Design is a privately held firearms design and manufacturing company founded in 2022. We started this company after seeing how the industry had changed after 2020. Many well known firearm designers and company founders were retiring or selling to conglomerates. As the true innovators were leaving the industry, they were replaced with entrepreneurs who knew little to nothing about firearms. Firearms are our passion, and we have no interest in going corporate, bending the knee, or selling out. Our values include quality, honesty, quality, and simply doing the right thing for our customers. at the end of the day, we will not compromise or lower our standards.
Heresy Design PRODUCTS
We’ve gotten asked ‘why the AUG®’ quite a bit since we went live. The AUG® was released in the 1970s, and since then, there’s been very little aftermarket support for the platform. Since the AUG® was developed for military use, the TDP (tech data package) has remained mostly unchanged since the initial release. With little change to dimensions and components, we’re able to design and manufacture parts that will be compatible with firearms manufactured from inception to today.
While our first products are all AUG® related, we’re not stopping there. We have multiple products for other platforms in the R&D process. If you’re signed up for our email notifications, you’ll be first to hear about these.
